Product Questions

The short answer is, Willie’s Remedy will not get you high!

Willie’s Remedy products are made using full-spectrum, whole-plant hemp extract. While hemp has naturally occurring trace amounts of THC, the psychoactive compound found in cannabis that gets you high, there isn't nearly enough to experience the inebriation associated with getting high.

To be compliant with the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (also known as the Farm Bill) which allows for the growth, cultivation and marketing of industrial hemp legally in the United States, we use hemp grown in accordance with the Colorado Department of Agriculture, which stipulates that the hemp itself may not contain more than 0.3% THC by dry weight, nor may the extract contain more than 0.3% THC by weight.

With our coffee, for example, there are 24 MG of full-spectrum hemp per serving (2 rounded tablespoons per serving for an 8-oz cup of coffee). Within that, there are approximately 16 MG of CBD specifically per serving. Unlike an isolate where exact, isolated units of each cannabinoid are added to a product, full-spectrum hemp is full of cannabinoids, including CBD. These work together for what is known as the entourage effect. This is also why the milligram amount is approximate for CBD. Natural has variations. If a product has an exact amount of CBD, it is most likely an isolate.

This is due to rounding. For example, with our hemp-infused coffee, there are 16mg of CBD per serving and 16 servings (approximately) per bag equals 256. We rounded down to 250 because servings are approximate, plus it depends on how precise you measure. And who doesn’t like a round number?

Yes. Our sourced extract is independently tested, and our products are independently tested for accurate cannabinoid potency after infusion. Willie’s Remedy products fall well within Colorado and federal regulations regarding THC content and concentration.

While Willie Nelson is well known for rolling his own, through his efforts as the founder of Farm Aid, he’s just as well known for helping American farmers. One of the best ways to do that is to support them by buying their crops, rather than creating more competition for them.

We source our coffees from two separate co-ops that combine old coffee traditions and new mission-based initiatives. Our Colombian coffee comes from the Colombia Risaralda Co-Op, an early co-op leader supporting and elevating their communities since 1959. Our Nicaraguan coffee comes from the SOPPEXCCA Co-Op, a fair-trade certified with a high female membership and a goal to create even more opportunities for women, their families and their communities. Learn more about our co-ops.

We are not certified organic, but many of our ingredients are certified organic or our farmers are using organic growing practices, including not using GMOs, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.

purchasing our products

Aside from our website, our products are sold in restaurants, cafés and multiple brick-and-mortal retailers across the United States. Use our Retail Locator to see if we’re in your neighborhood. If we’re not, ask the manager at your favorite store to carry us!

Many states, like Colorado, prohibit the sale of non-marijuana consumable products in recreational marijuana Dispensaries. Only marijuana products in the METRC system can be sold in these recreational dispensaries. Because we infuse our products with full-spectrum hemp extract, and not marijuana extract, our product is at no point in the METRC database, and we therefore cannot be sold in Recreational dispensaries. You can find us online, and at many local retail stores. Check out store locations to find us near you.

No. Willie’s Remedy products test well below the federal marijuana limit of 0.3% THC, and our extract is derived from industrial hemp, so medical marijuana cards are not necessary. That being said, you do need to be at least 18 years old to purchase CBD products.

using our products

With full-spectrum hemp extract in general, we suggest starting “low and slow”. Similar to fingerprints, each person’s endocannabinoid system is unique. Experts suggest starting with 5 mg to 20 mg and work your way up from there. Our teas and coffees can easily be incorporated into your daily wellness routine, and for those occasions when you need a bit more, consider adding our tincture or soothing balm.

A standard dose of full-spectrum cannabinoids is around 10 mg. A standard cup of Willie’s Remedy hemp-infused coffee uses about 10 g of coffee beans. Since we infuse our coffee beans at a 1 mg hemp cannabinoids to 1 g beans ratio, that puts 10 mg of hemp cannabinoids in standard cup of coffee. Of course, some people will prefer more or less than 10 mg of cannabinoids, but we would suggest starting with one normal cup and scaling appropriately from there.

A standard dose of full-spectrum cannabinoids is around 10 mg. A standard cup of Willie’s Remedy hemp-infused tea contains about 12.5 mg of CBD. Of course, some people will prefer more or less than 12.5 mg of cannabinoids, but we would suggest starting with one normal cup and scaling appropriately from there.

While it’s not a requirement, paper filters may absorb a little of the helpful hemp. While a paper filter will work, a metal mesh filter, French press, moka pot or reusable K cup will maximize the benefits.

general questions

Sorry folks, but this is most likely a scam. Willie's Remedy is Willie Nelson's official and only CBD brand. At this time, we do not offer a gummy. There are other people using Willie Nelson's name and image to promote other CBD products, including gummies. We've heard many of these people never receive their order. Willie Nelson's official product line includes: CBD-Rich Coffee, CBD-Rich Tea, CBD-Rich Balm and CBD-Rich Tinctures. See a scam? Please report it by contacting us here

Our coffees typically test with undetectable amounts of THC (less than 0.01% by weight) and the tests on brewed coffee have been negative for detectable THC. However, since the extract itself does contain trace amounts of THC, we cannot legally guarantee that consuming significant amounts will not cause anyone to fail a drug test.

Although both are Cannabis sativa plants, each has different uses and cannabinoid profiles. Marijuana is typically bred and grown for the perceived psychoactive and medicinal effects of THC. Industrial hemp has long been bred for its fiber and oils for application in the construction, textile and health-food industries. Hemp also contains a much different cannabinoid profile from a typical marijuana plant. The psychoactive cannabinoid, THC, is only found in trace amounts, with relatively greater concentrations of other cannabinoids like CBN, CBG, and CBD. This makes hemp an ideal source of non-psychoactive, full-spectrum, cannabinoid extracts. Our infused coffee is also lab tested to be well below 0.1% THC, ensuring compliance with both Colorado and federal regulations.

Compared to hemp extract, hemp seed oil found in the health food section of grocery stores like Whole Foods is processed from different parts of the hemp plant using different extraction methods. Hemp seed oil is made by cold pressing the cleaned hemp seeds. This resulting oil is very rich in healthy, fatty acids, and many find it a great alternative to traditional oils on the market.

Hemp extract uses all the plant matter available. The most common CO2 extraction method is called supercritical extraction. This method heats and pressurizes CO2 to a state where it behaves as both a liquid and a gas. In this state it acts as a stable and environmentally safe solvent to then extract the full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes found in the hemp plant.

Discovered in 1992, the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is the most under researched by comparison to our central, peripheral nervous and circulatory systems. The ECS plays an important role in maintaining homeostasis, a relatively stable equilibrium status, in the human body. Some researchers call it the ‘master regulator’ as it has a very wide scope of influence due to the abundance of cannabinoid receptors located anywhere from immune cells to neurons.”

There are three types of cannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds of the Cannabis sativa plant. Hundreds of natural compounds exist in Cannabis sativa, and at least 80 of these are classified as cannabinoids (both of these numbers are continuing to grow).

Endocannabinoids are compounds our bodies naturally produce to interact with the endocannabinoid system. Lastly, synthetic cannabinoids have been developed for medical use. Terpenes are the aromatic hydrocarbons that give Cannabis sativa its wide spectrum of smells and tastes depending on the terpene ratios present in the strain.

The most well-known and researched cannabinoids are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBN (cannabinol), CBG (cannabigerol), and CBD (cannabidiol).

When phytocannabinoids and terpenes interact with the endocannabinoid system, the resulting perceived effects depend on the quantity and ratio of the introduced compounds.

No. Willie’s Remedy is Willie Nelson’s official hemp extract brand, and Willie’s Reserve is his official marijuana brand.

No. The Internet is full of “fun facts” about Willie, weed, CBD and hemp, but the truth is, cannabis is Willie’s favorite plant. He enjoys all aspects of it and credits it to allowing him to do the things he loves—including music—and is a long-time outspoken advocate for its benefits.
